We decline some files
If the work is outside Singapore law, or needs a court advocate we are not, we say so and do not take the fee.
We read the papers first, write the scope second, and only then draft or lodge. You always have a named adviser and a date for the next step.
Bring the contract, the title, the will you already have, or the letter you received. We ask who signed what, and which date cannot slip. Advice that ignores those facts is unused paper.
Where the law allows more than one path — settle or write a letter, exercise or walk away from an OTP, a short will or a longer one — we say so, with the time and fee each path needs. You choose. We do not pretend there is only one “correct” commercial answer.
We read what you brought, say whether we can act, and list the statute or registry steps that apply in Singapore.
You receive tasks, dates, and fees in writing. Work starts only after you accept that note.
Drafts, mark-ups, and filings go out on the dates we agreed. You are copied on what the other side or the registry sent.
You get the originals or lodgement proof and a short list of any later date — a CPF refund, an annual return, or a review of the will.
Verbal discussion is for questions. Decisions go in a letter or an email you can file: what we will lodge, what you must sign, and what the other party still owes.
With your say-so we speak to your accountant, banker, or company secretary so the resolution, the tax treatment, and the ACRA form match.
OTP exercise dates, stamp duty windows, and regulator reply dates are treated as hard. If we cannot meet one, we say so before you instruct — not the afternoon it falls due.
If the work is outside Singapore law, or needs a court advocate we are not, we say so and do not take the fee.
Staff on your matter see the papers. We do not discuss clients in the lift or on a shared call.
Every meeting ends with who does what by when. If that is unclear, the meeting is not finished.
Write a short account of the papers you have. We reply within one business day.
